Early Detection and Screenings

Early detection of diseases through awareness and appropriate screenings can save lives. Piedmont Henry Hospital is dedicated to the promotion of early detection and providing screenings, as well as, awareness programs throughout the year.
Various awareness campaigns offered at specified times of the year include:
- Diabetes Awareness Screenings
- Skin Cancer Awareness
- Colon Cancer Awareness and colorectal kit promotion
- Stroke & Heart Awareness with risk screening
- Osteoporosis Awareness/Bone Density Screenings
To further promote early detection, Piedmont Henry Hospital collaborates with various churches, businesses, and civic groups to offer on-site screenings such as cholesterol, glucose, blood pressure, bone density, height and weight with Body Mass Index and abdominal girth. Screenings may be free or fee-based and are offered according to availability of resources and staff.
Some annual screenings and education events held by Piedmont Henry Hospital:
- Heart Healthy Screenings (February)
- Prostate Screening (September)
- Breast Health Connection (October)
Cardiovascular disease remains the top cause of death in the United States as well as the Henry County community. An annual education and screening event is held each February to promote the prevention of heart disease.
At the screening, you can learn individual risk for heart disease and what can be done to prevent it. Participants will receive a free total cholesterol screening and cardiovascular risk assessment. No fasting is required for the total cholesterol screening. For more information on Piedmont Henry Hospital’s Heart Health Screenings, please call the Community Education Department at 678-604-1040.
