About Us

Piedmont Henry Hospital first opened its doors on July 9, 1979 as Henry General Hospital. It was a small 104-bed hospital located in Stockbridge, Georgia offering health care services to a rural county of just 35,000 residents.
During the 1990s Henry County experienced phenomenal growth in its population. Determined to continue providing its community with high quality health care, the hospital grew rapidly as well. In 1995 Henry General Hospital was renamed Henry Medical Center and took on its vision to become the premier hospital on the south side of Atlanta.
Some 17 years later, Henry Medical Center embarked on a new journey, becoming a part of the Piedmont Healthcare family and taking on a new name – Piedmont Henry Hospital. As of January 1, 2012, Piedmont Henry Hospital is a 215-bed not-for-profit community hospital where leading-edge technology and first-class care come together in our centers of excellence in cardiovascular care, orthopaedics, surgery, critical care, women’s health, emergency services, radiation oncology and diagnostic imaging.
