Letters of Thanks from our Patients

Thank you– November 2011
The husband of a patient asked to speak to a supervisor following the birth of his child at Piedmont Henry Hospital recently. Upon the manager’s arrival, he thanked her for all the wonderful care that his family received. He stated that they drove by two hospitals to come to Piedmont Henry Hospital and that the care they received far exceeded their expectations. The couple shared that this is their second child and they had wonderful nurses and breastfeeding assistance.
Thank you– October 2011
My son had surgery in the outpatient center in October 2011. I just want to say how absolutely wonderful every single person we had any contact with was. From the time we met the nice lady at the front desk until we were taken out to the car to leave, everyone was so nice and caring and helpful.
Thank you for making the experience a good one.
Thank you– October 2011
The spouse of a patient called Administration to praise the staff at Piedmont Henry Hospital. In October 2011, her husband was a patient at PHH with stroke-like symptoms. She said the staff worked fast to get things rolling for her husband and she has so many people to thank for providing him with beyond excellent care! She said she was very, very proud of HER hospital. She used to work at PHH and was so proud to tell everyone she knew her husband’s story. She offered special thanks to Nurse Bowen in the Emergency Department, Robin in CCU, Dr. Larry Vaughn, Dr. Tagoe, Dr. Oldegaurde, Dr. Shaw, Nurses on the 2nd floor (especially Charisse) and Mary in housekeeping.
Her husband is doing very well and looking forward to a day at the golf course.
Thank you– June 2011
In June 2011 I had a heart attack and emergency surgery (two stents) at Piedmont Henry Hospital. I was most impressed and appreciative of your wonderful staff who came to my immediate assistance. Dr. Amin was right there to assure me, and my husband, that the surgery would take place at once and he expected an excellent outcome. He was right! Dr. Sekar arrived shortly after your ER team prepared me for the stent procedure. Within a one hour time, my life was saved, and today I am well on the road to recovery.
During my 4-day stay in CCU the nurses who cared for me were professional and looked after my every need. Susan, Jacqueline, Robyn and Andreen made sure I had everything I needed during my time there. They answered all my questions and prepared me for my return home, so I knew exactly what to expect.
I would recommend Piedmont Henry Hospital to anyone who is looking for the best in cardiac care, and I thank all of the above-mentioned medical personnel for their outstanding work!
Thank you– May 2011
I wanted to tell you how impressed I was with your weekend staff. I was visiting my sister and each person I came into contact with was kind, helpful and generous with their assistance. My brother-in-law and I got lost going back to the North Tower after lunch in the cafeteria and some wonderful woman from 2 Central brought us back to the CCU so we wouldn’t be wandering around for days. My sister’s nurses, especially Tammy and Sharon, were knowledgeable and offered the kind of care one hopes for from nurses. I left feeling like my sister was in excellent hands. Thank you for employing the right kind of people to work at your hospital. It makes all the difference when one is trying to heal.
Thank you to the OR– April 2011
I just wanted to thank everyone there for my surgery experience in April 2011. Every person from the volunteer at the check in desk, to the young man who wheeled me to my car was wonderful!
I was impressed with the information provided by the anesthesiologists before my procedure. They made me feel safe and comfortable even before giving me meds! The nurses in pre-op were kind and caring; at 6:30 in the morning no less. I wish I could remember all of their names; sadly I cannot because I am still a bit woozy.
Thank you for having such caring people at Piedmont Henry Hospital.
Thank you to Henry Outpatient Surgery Center– April 2011
I just want to take a minute to praise your team. I had surgery in April 2011 in the new surgery center. I was pleasantly surprised and in awe of the new center, but more so of your staff. Edna was full of energy, professional and eased any nerves that I may have had for that day. She was also very kind to my mother that was waiting with me for pre-op. I remember both of the Operating Room nurses greeted me and let me know they would be with me in the Operating Room. I obviously don’t remember much about that part of the day but know I was in good hands. Janet and Yvette were both patient and encouraging during recovery and got whatever they thought I needed or I asked for to make me more comfortable. All of these ladies are great at what they do and it truly shows in their style of care.
While I hope I don’t have to visit them anytime soon, I know I would again be given excellent care.
Thank you– April 2011
In April, I spent nine days being cared for by the nursing staff assigned to the fourth floor of Piedmont Henry Hospital. Nine days, two shifts each day, one primary nurse and one primary technician brought my family and me into contact with numerous nurses and technicians – all of who performed caringly, courteously and professionally.
My heartfelt thanks and appreciation go out to each and everyone that cared for me. No matter how excellent or exceptional the staff performs as a team, there are always those who excel and exceed above and beyond the staff as a whole. Please recognize and acknowledge the exceptionally outstanding performance of the following individuals:
RN: Nikki, Lisa Marie, Judith and Pam
Technician: Melissa, Charles and Monica
Housekeeping: Tracey
On two days I had what I consider the perfect combination of caretakers. The first day Judith was my RN, Melissa was my daytime technician and Charles was my night technician. The second day Melissa was my day technician and Charles was my night technician. Words fail me when trying to describe my feelings of safety and relaxation when in the company of Melissa and Charles.
I extend a special word of thanks to all the housekeeping staff and those who served and cleared my meals. Tracey was a breath of fresh air.
Piedmont Henry Hospital is becoming a world class hospital. I pray for its continued success and prosperity.
Thank you to the Third Floor South Tower– April 2011
Just wanted to say thank you to the nurses on the 3rd floor of the South Tower for taking such great care of my Mother while she had to stay a couple of days there in the hospital. She was there in April 2011. My Mother has not been in a hospital or doctors office for herself since I was born 40 years ago; but because of the great attitude of the nurses and a great Dr. Shah she is not afraid to continue care now!
Thank you for making it as pleasant as possible for her stay there and easing the minds of her family with such positive attitudes from her care givers! Thank you Rachel, Nadine, Margaret, Michelle, and others that I am forgetting.
Thank you– March 2011
In March 2011, I was admitted through the Piedmont Henry Hospital Emergency Room with a Myocardial Infarction. I was 49-years-old. I wanted you to know that I received excellent care during my 72 hour stay at your facility. Thanks to your Cath Lab, I was admitted, diagnosed, angioplasty performed and stent implanted in about an hour. I consider this a “blessing” and exceptional service!
Please extend my humble gratitude to Roddy Calicott, Wendy in the Cath Lab, as well as all the ER personnel that saved my life. I love and thank them all. Tell Wendy that her gentle voice and constant support really eased my anxieties. Tell Roddy I appreciate him taking care of my wife’s concerns. Thanks to all unnamed personnel and the chaplain, and Dr. Kogani, all CCU personnel and nurses. I owe you all my life.
In the 20 years I have patronized PHH, this was the best experience I can remember. Even though I spent my 50th birthday in the hospital… it will be the best & most memorable of my life!
Thank you– March 2011
I wanted to express my gratitude for the wonderful treatment I had while at Piedmont Henry Hospital. I had a hysterectomy in March 2011 and stayed two nights. I could not have asked for better nursing care, day or night.
Thanks to all who made my recovery so much better.
Thank you to the ER and Third Floor South Tower Staff– February 2011
I am an employee of Piedmont Henry Hospital. In February 2011 my father was transported to our Emergency Department by ambulance with difficulty breathing. The ED staff was professional and courteous. He was admitted that night to the 3rd floor South Tower telemetry unit.
My father was there for 7 days. I have to tell you that I have never been more proud to be associated with a company as I was during his stay. He was treated so well and the staff was so kind to him and my mother. It is hard to point out just one individual - EVERY ONE and I mean EVERY ONE was great. From EVS, food services, PCA, Nurses, Charge Nurses, Doctors, all great.
Again, Thank you so much. My parents were very impressed with the service received.
Thank you to the Fourth Floor South Tower Staff– September 2010
I just want to say I was a patient in August 2010 on the 4th floor of the South Tower and I would like to thank everybody who helped me from the doctors to the nurses including PCAs and respiratory therapists, even the cafeteria. Most patients say hospital food is terrible, but the food at Piedmont Henry Hospital is really good. Again, thank you to everyone. You were real nice to me… a BIG SMILE from me. And, I want to thank nurse Kimberly for getting my wife to laugh.
Thank you!
Thank you to the Second & Fourth Floor Staff– September 2010
During my most recent extended stay in July 2010 at Piedmont Henry Hospital, I was privileged to be cared for by professional, caring, compassionate nurses and patient care assistants (PCAs) comparable to or better than any nursing staff in this country.
Unfortunately, I do not have all the names of those who should be recognized for their exceptionally professional and care giving services. Very important to me were the visits by Gail, Darlene, Jackie and Brenda, assigned to different rooms after being with me. Just a quick “look in” to say, “Hello. Glad you’re doing better.”
Thank you to the ER and CCU– September 2010
It has been 5 months since my father was a patient at Piedmont Henry Hospital in the Emergency Room and Critical Care Unit. He was 82 years old, had been in declining health and in March 2010, he passed away.
Even though those final days were difficult and challenging to the family, we could not help but notice the wonderful medical treatment he received from the time the ambulance took him through the doors of the hospital to the very end. All the staff was efficient and dedicated.
One in particular stood out by going above and beyond. Corey in the Critical Car Unit was with Daddy the first night. Not only did he see to my father’s every need, but he also offered the emotional and caring support I needed. It’s taken me a while to write this letter, but my thanks and appreciation have been there all along.
Thank you to an ER nurse– June 2010
I wanted to compliment an ER nurse, A. Rees, who treated me in March 2010 for my first kidney stone.
Everyone should be like her especially when they are not feeling well and experiencing a pain like I never had in my 53 years with my first kidney stone.
Everyone was good that evening, but she had bedside manner and compassion… something you rarely find these days. Please pass on a “thank you” to her.
I don’t think any one can relate to a patients pain unless they have experienced the same thing. A kidney stone is NOT FUN and no matter which way you turn the pain remains. I finally got some relief after getting my blood drawn when I was given a shot.
Again, please thank the nurse for me.
It is a frightening experience to come to an ER in pain and not knowing what will happen. I know the ER sees a lot of trauma and after a while sometimes employees become detached to a patient or don’t want to get close. I understand that. But to see some compassion and bedside manner was so calming to me and I felt cared about.
Thank you to an ER nurse– May 2010
I am writing this letter for the purpose of honoring the exceptional care given to my mother in May 2010 by Josey Kitt in the ER.
Kitt, I observed, in attempting to get a response from my mother as she would drift in and out was ever so gentle in speaking and her gentler touch with the back of her hand on Momma’s face.
If you had been there, you would have felt the aura of genuine concern and respect that Kitt exhumed. As I told Kitt later, “If ever I saw an Angel disguised as a human being, I saw it in the face and eyes of Kitt that afternoon.” A lady of her caliber and demeanor, I feel, is as important as medical care in itself.
May God bless you All.
Thank you to the PHH staff– February 2010
You can be very proud of the staff at Piedmont Henry Hospital. I spent seven days there and this was the second time I have been in the hospital in 43 years. 2005 for a pacemaker and 2009 for pneumonia. My check in was very smooth and the lady was very professional.
I was never so cared for by all of the nurses, doctors, technicians, lab personnel and the food service personnel. How do I say Thank You enough to all of them for all that they did to make my stay in the hospital comfortable?
They visited at all times of day, or night or early morning to bring me what I needed or test what was wanted, and then away they would go like an angel coming in and out. But always with care, love and affection to help a very sick man.
Jerrie Johnson has a very good staff of nurses on the floor. They, and she, were wonderful. She was always there to check and see how things were going. I knew I was in good hands.
During their shift Rachel Douglas and Joyce Campbell, would frequently check in to see how I was doing. It was nice to know when they were on duty.
Cindy Henry, Barbara Johnson, Marcia Rankin, and Lorrie Taylor were always there to check. Having only been in the hospital twice in 43 years it was comforting to know that so many were so interested in my well being.
For this, I will always be grateful and thankful for the quality and caring nurses that you have on your staff. Norma Fullwood was great and made the check out so smooth with all of the information I needed to continue my recovery. I have taken all of the medicine similar to what I had in the hospital and also have a little puffer. I am feeling better and have been doing a few walks with my face covered up to keep the bad stuff out of my lungs. I am also obeying DR. WIFE.
Your staff is wonderful and my mouth is your best advertiser. One of my Vietnam Club members knew the names when I told him. His mother was in your hospital a few months back. He agreed with my comments. I hope that you do not have many of my friends come and see you. Because I want them to stay well. However, they will know that if they do they will be in VERY GOOD hands.
I will be a very good advertiser for your hospital. My mouth runs all the time. People ask how I am doing, and I say the Piedmont Henry Hospital staff and doctors have kept me alive.
Thank you to the Wound Healing Center staff– February 2010
I would like to thank all you did to help me understand how to care for my loved ones wound; and supplying me with what I needed. You were all very helpful and I appreciate all you did for him. We will refer anyone who needs wound care to Henry. Dr. Tejani is a very caring and excellent physician. Beth, Fara, and Darlene also do a great job.
Thanks again.
Thank you to the Fourth Floor staff– February 2010
I would like to thank all of you for all of the help, kindness, and concern you have shown to me and all other patients. It takes a very special person to be able too deal with all the problems and complications that you all do day in and day out. The big smiles, listening ears, and big hearts mean the world to someone that is sick and worried…
Thank you to the PHH staff– December 2009

Thank you to the Women’s Center – September 2009
My wife gave birth to our first child in September at Piedmont Henry Hospital. We were both nervous going in for the induction and quite anxious about being in a hospital. Once we arrived, we received nothing but the best care. I know you probably only hear about the bad experiences, so I thought I would take the time to let you know that the staff you have is wonderful. They made us feel comfortable and relaxed about the entire process and we could not have asked for better service.
On the third floor, our nurses were Marla and M. Joseph. These women were exceptional and helped my wife through a difficult delivery. They were comforting and helpful in every part of the process.
On the fourth floor, our first nurse was Allison and our tech was Jenn. Both were extremely helpful and answered all of our questions. They also helped my wife begin her recovery and were very nice to us both. As I stated earlier, he is our first and we had many questions. Whitney was our next nurse and she went beyond in our eyes. She was very helpful, again answered any questions, and never hesitated to assists us with anything.
Overall, we had a wonderful experience, will certainly recommend PHH to our friends and family, and will definitely revisit in the future. Thank you for having such caring individuals work in your facility.
Thank you to the ER – June 2009
I just wanted to take the time to say what a wonderful job your nurses did with me! Especially John and Heidi on the night shift in the ER. They didn’t give me the run around like most do. They were kind, funny, quick to respond to my needs and most of all they were willing to take the time with me to make me feel better even though there was not much they could do with my illness. When I was in the ER in June, they were professional but also real which to me is more valuable than the meds I needed. They went beyond just doing their job, they took the time. I’m sure you already know what caliber of employee those two are and just how valuable they must be to your hospital. Fantastic attitudes and didn’t hesitate to share their knowledge with me.
Thank you to the ER – June 2009
It is with great pleasure that I take this opportunity to recognize the outstanding performance of Dr. Francis and staff in the Emergency Room in June 2009 for the care of my father.
That Friday afternoon my father abruptly became disoriented, dizzy and his speech was slurred. An ambulance was called and he was rushed to Piedmont Henry Hospital. As soon as he arrived, he was immediately taken for a CT scan and diagnosed with a stroke and an irregular heart beat (he had no previous heart issues to our knowledge). Treatment began without delay and his condition began to improve dramatically. During this time the coordination of several physicians, Dr. Francis - ER, Dr. Amin - Atlanta Heart Associates, Dr. Kolanu - Neurology South, and Dr. Vaughn was impressive. Dr. Barlow also came by to see how my father was doing. The ER staff constantly checked his status/progress and kept us (the family) informed and reassured. My father was admitted promptly to CCU that same evening, by your caring and courteous staff.
Please convey our sincere thanks and appreciation to Dr. Francis and the ER staff for their rapid response, diagnosis, coordination and exceptional medical care. Due to the actions of this outstanding team our father is doing well, coherent and speaking normally. He is now under the care of Atlanta Heart Associates. Piedmont Henry Hospital can be proud to have such a professional and caring staff in the emergency room. We are forever grateful and are recommending Piedmont Henry Hospital to all our family and friends.
Thank you to Labor & Delivery – March 2009
After having my third baby on March 20, 2009, I feel I must thank two wonderful nurses. Christy was my delivery nurse and she was wonderful. Complications prevented me from having an epidural. It literally broke me. Her professionalism, calmness and wonderful, knowledgeable care made what could have been a horrible delivery much easier.
My night nurse on March 20, Katherine, was the best nurse I’ve EVER had while at the hospital. She was quick and helpful about giving me my medications I needed. Katherine was always kind and helpful about coming to and from the room with my baby so I could get some rest.
A Letter of Thanks – February 2009
On February 4 my husband was having difficulty breathing, tight chest and pain. We had spent the night in a motel near your facility. Upon arriving at emergency, we were quickly taken care of and our time in the Cardiac Care unit, then in a regular room - were all magnificent. We couldn’t have had any better care here in Michigan at our own hospital. I am very grateful for the doctors, nurses, and staff. Please give our thanks to all who were so great.
Thank you to the Staff – January 2009
In December 2008 I came into the emergency department to receive treatment for kidney stones. A gentleman by the name of Larry checked me in at the front desk and kept me calm and in constant casual talk until the triage nurse could get back to her station to see me. He was very nice and kind and I really appreciated him helping to get my mind off of the pain as much as possible. I was then taken back to the ER department for treatment and was treated by the ER staff; Kelly, Eric, Mandi & Dr. Lorenzo. This whole team was great in their treatment, concern for my health and welfare as well as my comfort. They were the quintessential “Perfect” employee “TEAM”. They made what was a very painful and uncomfortable situation more bearable without the sacrifice of my dignity. The entire staff constantly checked on my frequently and had my comfort, healthcare and needs in the forefront of their treatment of me. Way to go Piedmont Henry Hospital! This is a true demonstration of how all employees and staff should interact, work together, and put the needs of their patients in front of their own needs. I am proud to say that I was treated in your facility and will HIGHLY recommend your medical center to friends and family for their future health care. Thank you for your helping me to enjoy my holiday despite the fact that I was ill.
Thank you to the Staff – November 2008
I can tell you, strictly unbiased, that I had the most personal, excellent, and personable care at Piedmont Henry Hospital. Everyone from the guys pushing me in a wheelchair or gurney, to the technicians, to cafeteria ladies, everyone … introduced themselves, asked how I was and would all ask if I need them to get anything for me at all. My stay could not have been better. The technicians in the stress test and echocardiograph rooms were very friendly and positive, plus they all took the time to tell me what they were doing, seeing, and injecting into me. This was my first experience with Piedmont Henry Hospital as a patient, other then brief ER visits, and I was even more convinced that it is one of the top facilities to be found.
Thank you to the Staff – September 2008
I am writing this letter to thank you and your staff for the outstanding care that I received during my labor & delivery. Every nurse, food staff, cleaning staff, etc. were extremely friendly, personable and professional.
The experience was a great one for us and it definitely did not feel like the “typical” hospital stay. The birthing and recovery rooms were extremely clean, nicely decorated and had all of the state-of-the-art amenities that we did not expect to see in a hospital environment.
The birth of our third child was a wonderful experience. We are so blessed that he has come into our lives and we adore him!
Thanks again Piedmont Henry Hospital!
Thank you to the Staff – September 2008
I just wish to tell you what a great experience I had at Piedmont Henry Hospital this morning. My daughter broke her arm and leg. She had surgery at Piedmont Henry; and the service and experience was absolutely perfect! The kindness and attention shown by EVERYONE from the auxiliary (front desk) to the pre & post op nurses and the physical therapist was unmatched. I could go on and on, but truly everyone was excellent as was the facility itself. I know you are always proud of your staff and hospital but this morning I was equally proud to experience a first class hospital in my home county. Once again I cannot begin to tell you how much my family appreciated all that was handled on my daughter’s behalf, and please tell your staff thank you and great job!
Thank you to the NICU Staff – August 2008
One year ago, my grandson was born at your facility. Weighing 2lb. 11 oz, he was a tiny thing. He celebrated his first birthday this month weighing a little over 16 pounds. Thanks to all of your NICU staff for their great care. Thank you again for all that you do so very well.
Thank you – August 2008
My Mother was a patient at your hospital from in July. I brought her to Georgia from Nebraska to have a knee replacement by Dr. Todd Schmidt. From the minute we entered the doors at Surgery Registration until she was discharged we had EXEMPLARY service. Although I am a resident of Henry County, I <work> at Southern Regional Medical Center and after 14 years of service there I find myself wondering if I am at the right hospital! I have always known that simple kindness goes a long way, and believe me – everyone we encountered at your facility was genuinely kind and compassionate. The OR nurses and Anesthesia staff were excellent. Carolyn in PACU went above and beyond, even checking on my Mother once she arrived on the Ortho unit. The nurses on the Ortho unit were skilled and caring. Your hospital is beautiful – this was my first visit – and I give it an A+ on cleanliness and organization.
A Letter of Thanks… March 2008
Specifically for Cynthia Neal, Alfreda Fraser, Maria Mantle, and Leslie Lantis
“George Elliston once said, “How beautiful a day can be when kindness touches it!” During a time when medical professionals have such demanding schedules, you and your dedicated staff managed to touch my family’s days with kindness. Words cannot convey our gratitude for the exemplary care you provided to my daughter during her stay at Piedmont Henry Hospital.
As you are aware, when a patient is discharged, it is quite easy for him or her to get caught up in the everyday hustle and bustle of life; however, your concern, patience and compassion, combined with your indubitable knowledge in your field of work, has made it impossible for my family to move forward without expressing our deepest gratitude.
Your staff was comforting and accommodating during our stay. Please accept our most sincere feelings of gratitude. Please also know that it is recognized that what you do, you obviously do well. It is nice to know that there is a hospital like Piedmont Henry Hospital that has a high quality staff that is committed to patient care. May you be blessed as you continue to bless the lives of others.”
Thank you to the CCU – January 2008
I had been a patient at Piedmont Henry Hospital, in the ER and had surgery in 2005 with an overnight stay, but it wasn’t until our mother became a frequent patient that I realized just how important quality hospital care is. Our mother was a patient at Piedmont Henry Hospital eight times over a period of five months. Three of those visits were in the Critical Care Unit. With the exception of someone having a bad day here and there, she received great care during her stays. It was during those months of spending hours in the emergency room, visiting in CCU and on the floor that we realized how important each and every job is at a hospital. One nurse or one person delivering meals had the capability to brighten a patient’s otherwise lonely day.
Thank you to the NICU Staff – November 2007
Just wanted to express my sincere thanks to all the staff at your facility in the care of my daughter and my new grandson. My daughter was admitted mid early July and my grandson was born on August 17, 2007. He spent six weeks in the NICU. I have never seen such caring staff in any hospital that I have ever dealt with. Everyone just showed the most sincere concern for their care. I know that the care at your facility has been a great factor in his growth. Our family can never thank your facility enough for the care that they received. Please express our sincere thanks not only to your staff in the NICU but please tell the senior management that for a change someone is doing something right in healthcare!!!!
